Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair and Debris
If you have pets, a robotic vacuum that can pick up pet hair and other debris from any floor is a must. Look for features such as an obstacle avoidance feature that is reactive and mobile control.
Dogs and cats shed fur that spreads across hard floors or embeds into carpeting. This can be difficult for a robot to pick up.
1. Neato D9

The Neato D9 robot cleaner is one of the most sophisticated available. It has an onboard camera that maps out the space and then vacuums up and down in a rational way until it has completely cleaned your floor. best robot vacuum for pet hair wirecutter is easy to clean hard to reach areas such as underneath furniture or above stairs. It also does an excellent job of removing pet hair and dust.
The D9 has a large coverage area and can clean up to 1,600 square feet of space on a single charge, making it suitable for homes with medium-sized spaces. It has a high-end matte black finish that looks fantastic in any house. The D9 isn't as strong than some of the other robotic vacuums we tested in our tests, but it's capable of picking up a lot of dirt and other particles. Its helix-shaped multi-surface brush is 70% bigger than the ones found on most round robotic vacuums. This helps in collecting dust and other particles.
Another feature that makes the D9 apart from other robot vacuums is its SmartLiDAR navigation system. It utilizes the same technology used by self-driving vehicles to map and navigate your home. This enables the D9 to clean faster than robots that employ cameras since it can see more of your home and avoid obstacles in low light.
If you don't want the D9 to take certain areas of your house off its cleaning list, you can draw virtual boundaries on a map using the app. The D9 will either stay clear of these areas or vacuum more often. It can also identify and take care of pet messes as well as dirt on floors that aren't cleaned.
The D9 can clean your grout. This is especially beneficial in homes with a tiled or vinyl flooring. It's not as efficient as other robot vacuums when it comes to removing pet hair on carpeted floors but it still does a good job.
The D9 was able to stay in the same place while it was cleaning for more than three hours, which is more than any other robot vacuum I've ever tested. However, it had to return to the charging base when its battery had reached 15%.
2. Eufy RoboVac 11S
The Eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum is an excellent choice when you're on a budget and are looking to keep your floors clean. It's also among the most affordable robot vacuums available in the market today, and is even less expensive than the older Eufy models or other machines that are made by lesser-known brands. The 11S is compact and attractive, it's user-friendly and has a good dust compartment.
It has the same basic shape as the eufy30C we reviewed last year, but it's slimmer and has slightly more suction power (2 kPa instead of 1.7). Unlike the more expensive Roomba models and the 11S does not come with a built-in robot mop or advanced navigation capabilities. Instead, it utilizes the remote control and smartphone app to allow you to control it manually and create a daily cleaning schedule.
You can program the 11S to clean specific rooms or the entire home. It also comes with a spot cleaning mode that lets you select one area for an intense 2 minutes of intensive vacuuming. Edge cleaning is a helpful feature that lets you concentrate on the edges of your space.
The 11S is easy to maintain. It has a large dirt container that doesn't have to be emptied often, and its battery life is exceptional. The 11S tends to fall off its charging dock once it's fully charged. You'll need to secure the cables around the dock by using zip tie. You'll need to check your dust bin frequently because there's no indication that it's filled.
The 11S is more durable, has lower recurring costs, a larger dirt compartment, and can remove more debris, from low-pile carpet to floors that are bare. It's also more easy to maintain and offers better performance overall, especially on carpets. Its BoostIQ function automatically switches between Standard and Max power settings based on the type of surface you're cleaning. Anti-collision sensors prevent the 11S from bumping into furniture, and it will be set to automatically return to its original setting when the battery is empty. It took an hour to fully charge, and it has a long duration.
Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot
iRobot J7 is the most intelligent vacuum and robot mop available. It utilizes PrecisionVision navigation to identify obstacles and move around them, avoiding blind spots where other robotic vacuums could become stuck. It also learns about your home, and utilizes this information to improve its cleaning performance over time. It is controlled by the iRobot App and can also be integrated with Alexa or Google Assistant.
We put the j7+ Combo through its paces on our obstacle course and found it to be one of the best robotic cleaners that works on floor surfaces with low piles and no flooring. Its maneuverability and cleaning pattern are organized and it will return to its docking station once finished. Its hazards detection feature is effective in avoiding things like cords however it could get caught on rug tassels, and it can be difficult to climb up on carpets with high piles.
The iRobot J7+ has a self-emptying dust bin that dumps the contents of its dirt compartment into the charging dock when full which reduces hands-on maintenance needs. The J7+ Combo comes with a broad range of mopping options, including the ability to clean both hard and softer surfaces. The dual brush bars made of rubber are able to handle the most sticky mess and are flexible enough to keep from getting caught in hair whether animal or human while cleaning.
The mopping capabilities of iRobot are limited to a couple of seconds per surface, but it can provide enough suction to leave your floors looking and smelling amazing. The j7+ is quiet when cleaning and has a decibel range of just 64 decibels. It's similar to the sound of a normal phone conversation, and is lower than other robots.
The j7+ isn't the most efficient robot for bare floors and low-pile fabrics however it's an excellent choice for the majority of homes. Its ability to avoid pet waste and other obstructions makes it a great option for families with dogs or cats.
4. Deebot X2 Omni
Ecovacs' Deebot X2 Omni is an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop with a sleek low profile, powerful cleaning power, and intelligent navigation. It's the first robot vacuum and mop to include dual-laser LiDAR navigation completely enclosed into the body of the device, which allows for faster mapping, improved response, and more precise cleaning. The X2 also features upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 and TrueMapping 3.0, combining advanced dynamic obstacle avoidance and path-mapping for an all-encompassing solution for cleaning all floors. The X2 also comes with pet-friendly AI that recognizes and identifies pets in the household and allows it to customize its cleaning to the specific needs of your household.
The X2 can get up close to walls and corners because of its unique square design and edge detection sensors. It can clean both tiles and hardwood floors simultaneously. However, unlike other robots that automatically wash their rotating pads with hot water, the X2's rotating pad is soaked in 131 degrees F water. This allows it to dry the pads between uses, extending their lifespan and performance.
As with other robots of the present like other modern robots, the X2 can be controlled with a free app that allows you to set up and schedule cleaning runs. The app is simple and user-friendly, but it lacks some advanced features found in the other models. For instance, even though the X2 is smart enough to clean in a gridded pattern, our testing results revealed that it typically cleaned in more haphazard patterns, and occasionally did not pick up a heap of dirt or dust that was visible.
The X2 is very simple to maintain. It will return to its docking station to automatically wash and dry its mop pad and empty the dustbin. It's also capable of recognizing its charging station and coming back to it to charge, allowing you to keep your home filled up with fresh cleaning power for a period of weeks. The only problem is the size of the battery, which makes it difficult to locate a suitable spot for when it's charging.
